Did the Nets make a mistake by giving up on Marcus Williams

Marcus Williams played for the Nets for 2 years before being acquired by the Golden State Warriors to solve their PG situation after Baron Davis surprisingly left them. Drafted by the Nets in 2006 to take over the PG spot after Jason Kidd; 2 years of bad numbers and completely incapable of playing the point, Nets gave up on this project.

Will the Nets management regret their decision? If we are to take the summer league performances seriously then Nets will definitely wish they had him, maybe Devin Harris will wish he was the third point guard that the Nets really need.
With another chance given to prove why he should be in NBA, he has not wasted anytime with the Grizzlies. He has more or less single handedly led the Grizzlies to 3-0 in the summer league so far. He had 17 assists against the Thunder, 16-5-5 against the Knicks and 22-4-5 against the Clippers( stealing Griffins Thunder)His shooting still sucks but everything else has improved a lot, guess he learned a few things from Jason Kidd.

Nets- Sixers summer league team have finished without a win losing the last game to the Celtics 79 -92. Two Nets players in the team were rookie Terrence Williams and Chris Douglas Roberts.

I am not really disappointed that the team lost all its games, but is there anything that can be learned from these loses

CDR- B+
1. best player on the court when he was very involved in the offense
2. can score and has the ability to get to the free throw line
3. Inconsistent- 2 good games, 2 bad games and 1 OK game
4. Around 50% shooting percentage.
5. have to work on rebounding.

Terrence Williams- B
1. Can rebound well.
2. Didn't shoot all that well.
3. Turnover prone
4. good defense

Cannot ask for more from Twill to do in his first five NBA style game.

Draft Day Drama

Draft day is when you usually teams making big trades that can indicate where a team is headed, Celtics traded for Ray Allen on draft day and traded for KG the next day (maybe a few days after that I don't remember). Magic and the Nets agreed on a trade similar to that sending Captain and present day human highlight reel Vince Carter and Ryan Anderson for Rafer Alston, Tony Battie and Courtney Lee.

Nets selected Terrence William with their 11th pick in the draft today.

What did the Nets get from the Orlando Trade and the Draft

Terrence Williams
1. Experienced college player who can multiple positions.
2. Has a Shane Battier attitude on defense, never give up a play and never back down from a challenge.
3. can play the point and create for others.
4. Slasher which would be a upgrade over the catch and shoot Bobby Simmons

Rafer Alston
1. He is the third point guard that Devin Harris and Vince Carter wanted the Nets management to look for in the draft.
2. Contract expires before 2010 free agency class.
3. Had a phenomenal playoffs run and played great in Cavaliers series and can be used as a trade piece next season.

Tony Battie
1. A better Back up to Brook Lopez than Josh Boone who is offensively handicapped.
2. Can play the 4 and hit mid range jumpers.
3. Last year of this contract.

Courtney Lee
1. He is the main reason why Nets made this trade.
2. A solid 2 for the future.
3. Defended some of the best players in the league during his Rookie season. (He may wanna forget facing Kobe in the finals)
4. Tremendous upside.

The trade is gonna save Nets more than $17 million in 2010 a much needed financial relief and the Nets have given full scoring responsibility to Devin Harris.

Around 2 years back Magic Johnson said that Vince Carter has lost his hops and is in his decline of his career and game. Decline in game? I really don't know about that because Devin Harris was the 1st option and Vince came after but has he lost his hops? I don't think so.

Boozer to Pistons- I don't think so

While almost every team is clearing salary cap in hopes of signing a super star (LeBron James) during the 2010 free agency period, there are few that have the cap space to sign 1 of these players. Out of the top 10 free agent, most of them will resign with their present teams. The players like to have a change in scenery are Carlos Boozer, Allen Iverson and Shawn Marion.

Most likely Boozer will opt out of his last year and the Jazz will have no problem replacing him as Paul Millsap played really well this season when Boozer missed 45 games this season.
Pistons have Iverson and Rasheed Wallace's contract ending with this season and most expect Boozer to sign with them but he has showed interest to play with the Nets too. He and his agent visited the Nets on May 8.

Nets really need to improve on defense, really need agod perimeter defender and consistent inside scoring. Not that Brook Lopez is not doing a good job but the power forwards the Nets have are not real threats to anyone.

Though Boozer has shown interest to play for the Nets and its something every Nets fan wanna see happen, Nets do not have the cap space for it so its going to be sign and trade. Which all players would the Jazz want in return is still questionable that is if this sign and trade will really happen.

Newark Mayor Cory Booker believes that Nets will be up for sale soon

The Atlantic Yards project has not made any progress and the vision of Brooklyn Nets is fading by the day or at least that's what Newark Mayor Cory Booker thinks.
During "Newark Today" show on WBGO-FM, Mayor Cory Booker said predicted that the Nets would be up for sale soon because the Atlantic Yards project is not making any progress and it's reducing his chances of relocating the team to Newark.
Other cities looking for a basketball team are Seattle and Kansas City, Seattle had the Sonics till last year and if the Nets are to move to Seattle, it will have more loyal fans.
If the Nets is not for sale, Mayor Cory Booker has a great chance of getting his wish and keeping the the team in New Jersey.

Devin Harris and Vince carter got votes in the annual balloting for All NBA teams. Devin Harris got 5 and Vince got 1 vote.
As the MVP LeBron James got the most number of votes and he is joined by last year MVP Kobe Bryant, league scoring leader Dwayne Wade, Dirk Nowitzki and Dwight Howard to form the All NBA first team.

Danny Granger wins Most mproved Player, Devin Harris close 2nd most pobably

Danny Granger of the Indiana pacers is set to win 2008- 2009 Most Improved Player tomorrow morning at a press conference. Most improved player of the year is one of the awards that is given pretty early and most definitely before MVP. i am guessing the delayed decision for this award was because there were two players who stood out among the many candidates who could have won this award, Danny Granger himself and our own Devin Harris of the New Jersey Nets.

Danny Granger has increased his ppg more than 5 every season and averaged 25.8 ppg (5th best in the league) playing in 67 games and became the first option for the after trading Jermaine O' Neal to the Raptors last season.

Devin Harris started playing like a 5th pick after the Dallas Mavericks traded him for Jason Kidd. Devin Harris increased his scoring total from 14.8 to 21.3 and has found himself a team and a system where he can exploit his speed to score and make plays for others.

Danny Granger and Devin harris were selected as reserves for the All Star game and Danny Granger has been invited to participate in a USA Basketball training camp this summer.

Other players who were considered for the award are Kevin Durant, Brandon Roy, Nene, Thaddeus Young, Rajan Rondo, Chris Andersen and Roger Mason.
